RESEARCH
Our research on the role of inner dimensions and spheres of inner-outer transformation in sustainability includes theoretical and empirical studies on: social values, beliefs, paradigms and associated cognitive/ emotional capacities and virtues, such as awareness, consciousness, comp-assion, empathy and mindfulness.
EDUCATION
Our education on the role of inner dimensions and transformation in sustainability includes courses on 'Sustainability and Inner Trans-formation', 'Psychology and Climate Change', PhD education, and contemplative learning activities, such as Practice Labs. They are closely linked to our research activities.
NETWORKING
Our networking activities involve cooperation with other scholars and practitioners and the development of a database of stakeholders, projects and resources on inner dimensions and transformation in sustainability. ABOUT US
Humanity is facing increasingly complex social and environmental challenges. Current coordination mechanisms, problem-solving strategies, and modes of scientific inquiry, teaching and learning appear insufficient to address these challenges. As a result, individual and collective inner dimensions and transformation (embodied in notions such as consciousness and compassion) are emerging as a potential new area of exploration. The Contemplative Sustainable Futures Program was set up to explore this new area and create space and opportunities for learning, networking and knowledge development on these issues.
